BCI awards license to Boxer

"The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland has awarded the three national digital terrestrial television contracts to the Boxer DTT consortium. Boxer includes Denis O'Brien's Communicorp and BT." [Source RTE]

Listening to Boxer on the radio this morning, the whole deal sounds pretty impressive. Aspects that appealed to me included the fact that it's 'pay as you go' so you're not tied into any kind of subscription. Secondly, if you have multiple TVs in your home you can buy multiple Boxer cards with different channels purchased on them. You can even take these cards with you to stick into whatever Boxer set top box you like - pretty awesome.

Irish TV still imitating the BBC

It's an old joke but still running, Irish TV stations love imitating the good old BBC. The latest 'homage' will feature on TV3 this autumn with an Irish version of 'The Apprentice', featuring Bill Cullen as the Alan Sugar on the hunt for a new recruit.
